Fran Visco is a passionate advocate for cancer research and breast cancer awareness. She serves as the first president of the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) and as a member of its Board of Directors. She has been a breast cancer survivor for over 25 years.

After graduating with honours from St. Joseph’s University and the Villanova University School of Law, Ms. Visco practiced commercial and multi-district litigation at a Philadelphia law firm. She later resigned her law practice to focus on NBCC activities and continue her full-time role as NBCC President.

Ms. Visco was appointed as one of three members of the President’s Cancer Panel by President Bill Clinton where she served as a member of the President’s Cancer Panel Special Commission on Breast Cancer until its dissolution.

She demonstrates her passion to cancer advocacy by lecturing nationally and internationally on the politics of breast cancer and women’s health advocacy issues. She also offers scientific and governmental policy presentations to research, governmental and scientific entities.

Her dedication, leadership and contributions to breast cancer advocacy have earned Ms. Visco numerous awards and honours. These include the American Cancer Society Distinguished Service Award, being honoured as an ABC “Person of the Week” and being named one of the 40 most influential people in the Pharmaceutical Industry by World Pharmaceutical Frontiers Magazine—twice.
