MD, FACP
Dr. Charles L. Vogel is an internationally acknowledged opinion leader in breast cancer treatment and research with over 500 breast-cancer related publications and abstracts. He received his BA from Princeton and his MD from Yale Medical School. He then completed his internship and internal medical residency at Emory University and his fellowship in medical oncology at the U.S. National Cancer Institute (Medical Branch).
After his fellowship, he spent four years at the Uganda Cancer Institute where he started the Solid Tumor Centre which studies primary liver cancer, melanoma and Kaposi’s sarcoma. When he returned to the U.S. in 1973, he started the first oncology inpatient unit at Grady Memorial Hospital (Emory University School of Medicine). He then moved to the University of Miami in 1975 where he became chief of the Breast Cancer division and then Clinical Director.
In April of 2010, Dr. Vogel returned as a Professor of Medicine to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center of the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami Medical School in charge of the Comprehensive Breast Center . Dr. Vogel is currently a Professor of Medicine at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. He is also in charge of its Comprehensive Breast Center. He is currently the Medical Director of the Cancer Research Network, which is now the community clinical trials outreach program of the Sylvester Center.
